Our trip through Uzbekistan was whirlwind. We rode the old soviet trains straight across the country, making 3 or 4 stops of several days each, all sweltering in the July desert heat.

We left on bikes from Osh, Kyrgyzstan to climb the Pamir Highway, the second tallest road in the world. Midway through, we took an unexpected detour to join some new friends on the off-road trail that winds through the Bartang Valley. After 3 weeks of hard riding, we ended our trip in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
During our month climbing in Yangshuo, China, we spent quite a bit of time on the motorbike going to and from the crags. These pictures were all taken during those drives.
West of West Sumatra lie the Mentewai Islands. We spent more than a month there, eating, sleeping, watching the rain, reading, writing, hunting fish and surfing waves.
